Collecting comments

A lot of my 'spare time' is spent collecting things online. I collect Google suggestions. I collect responses to craiglist ads. And I collect comments from blogs, newspapers, and ugc sites, on various topics like wikileaks, sampling, and 2012.
My collection process is simple: I copy & paste comments into Powerpoint and export the PDF for safekeeping, and then make virtual books using Issuu for people to flip through. But a friend of mine convinced me to carry over this concept into a video - that way more people could watch it, together. Turns out that was a good idea: FIFA picked it up--my video based on a YouTube comment collection about 2012 predictions--and screened it last winter. This piece is also going to be shown at WNDX :: Winnipeg’s Festival of Film and Video Art in October. Score.
