Coming off our time in Montreal where working in the same room was so good, being once again spread out across the country finds us having to navigate through work via the technology. While it's common to nowadays work with colleagues and clients via Skype, Facetime or even 'hang out' Google style, there's nothing quite like sharing the same space to work on projects. Don't get me wrong, the the fact I can skype from my iphone and even collaborate on documents online in real-time is amazing, but there's still those intangibles of personal interaction that just can't be transferred in Mbps. This preference to communicate in person does create a bit of a paradox considering that I'm largely in the business of mediating communication. And maybe this is where a combination of age and experience comes in handy. We may have grown up on really bad food and even worse tv, but we knew of a life before the internet.
